Concept

The concept for The Healing Forest Institute, Inc is based on sound youth development principles designed to serve the needs of the whole child, in authentic environments using the outdoors, travel, workshops, and real-world experiences as the classroom.

Through engagement in a variety of enrichment activities, this format allows children--individually and collectively--to reflect on their social, emotional, physical, academic, and personal skills. Surrounded by a team of caring adults, this program format offers children a platform to speak to their own needs, and provides strategies to address those needs in a supportive environment. Thus, we move children from a deficit position, to a position of strength...turning their stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
